Title: βLetβs Just Try Thisβ: An Exploration of How a Choreographer/Director Can Manipulate Time, Space, and Energy when Creating Dance for Film
Majors: Theatre and Dance; Global Media and Digital Studies

This project seeks to answer the critical question: How can a choreographer/director manipulate time, space, and energy when creating dance made for film and how does this process compare to choreographing for live performance? For my research, I looked into how various modern dancers and choreographers’ used time, space, and energy in their own dance practices. I then analyzed six dance films and compared how the choreographer/director used time, space, and energy differently when compared to pieces made for a live audience. Then, I created my own dance film where I integrated what I learned. I hope to continue this research further and make more dance films in the future.
