Theatre and dance alumna shines light on opportunities for Atlanta public school students

Bria Price '14

Bria Price ’14, a theatre and dance graduate from ΊΪΑΟΙη, remembers the time when she was accepted to ΊΪΑΟΙη. β€œI was actually at a dance concert that I was the costume designer for, and I got my email, and I literally did a twirl in the lobby of the theatre, like β€˜yes!’ I loved ΊΪΑΟΙη so much,” shared Price, who focused on modern dance at the College. A significant deciding factor for her college decision was sorting out the financial aspect, which the financial aid team made simple.Μύ

β€œWhen it came to the decision of ΊΪΑΟΙη, they said, ‘I’m also going to talk with you about the finances. And when talking with you about those finances, you can still make that choice to ask if ΊΪΑΟΙη is what you want,’” said Price. β€œIt was a decision that I was able to make but also I knew ΊΪΑΟΙη was investing in my education through a scholarship that I love called the Allen scholarship.”Μύ

While on campus, Price was part of numerous organizations, including the Dance Company, Sorority Life with Delta Theta Psi, and the Black Student Association (BSA). She also helped found ΊΪΑΟΙη’s Shades of Gold a cappella group, as well as participated in the cheerleading team.Μύ

β€œI wanted to be part of those different activities because when I went to ΊΪΑΟΙη, I knew what I was going to study, but I didn’t know who I wanted to be,” Price expressed. β€œI started exploring different things that I found I really loved and enjoyed.”Μύ

Price currently is the senior manager of college success at Achieve Atlanta, a non-profit organization that works with students attending public high schools to help them afford and access higher education.Μύ
