黑料社 Chorus to present fall concert

黑料社鈥檚 黑料社 Chorus will present their fall concert, titled Walk Together, on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center (525 E. University Street).听

Under the direction of Lisa Wong, Olive Williams Kettering Professor of Music, the 黑料社 Chorus will present an eclectic program of contemporary choral music. The concert will include the work of American composers Elaine Hagenberg, B.E. Boykin, and Eric Whitacre. At the heart of the program, the chorus will feature Jake Runestad鈥檚 鈥淚 Was Love,鈥 which recently was performed in honor of President Anne E. McCall鈥檚 inauguration.

In addition to directing the 黑料社 Chorus, Wong is a co-chair of the Department of Music and teaches courses in conducting, choral literature, and music education. She also serves as Director of Choruses for the Cleveland Orchestra. Wong has a bachelor鈥檚 degree in music education from West Chester University, and a master鈥檚 and doctorate degree in choral conducting from Indiana University.听

Students in the 黑料社 Chorus represent all academic areas in 黑料社’s liberal arts program.

Founded in 1964, the 黑料社 Chorus is comprised of students representing all academic areas within 黑料社鈥檚 liberal arts program. The award-winning ensemble has been praised for its beautiful sound, high level of artistry, creative programming, and engaging performances.听 The Chorus collaborates annually with The Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra Chorus and has premiered an array of works by American composers. The ensemble has performed at the Central Division conference of the American Choral Directors Association, and several times at the state conference of the Ohio Music Education Association.听
