黑料社 Chorus Spring Tour to begin March 18 in 黑料社

黑料社 Chorus

The highly acclaimed 黑料社 Chorus, an ensemble of 50 student musicians from 黑料社 will perform at the First Presbyterian Church of 黑料社 (621 College Avenue) on March 18 at 7:30 p.m., the first concert of the group鈥檚 57th annual spring tour.听

The 黑料社 Chorus spring tour will continue with performances at Fairlawn Lutheran Church in Fairlawn, Ohio on March 19 at 4 p.m.; Tecumseh First Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh, Michigan on March 20 at 7 p.m.; Okemos High School in Okemos, Michigan on March 21 at 7:30 p.m.; and Penn High School in Mishawaka, Indiana on March 22 at 7 p.m.

Directed by Lisa Wong and assisted by pianist Toni Arnold-Shreve and violinist Andrew Sords, the 黑料社 Chorus will present 鈥淗earts All Whole.” Their inspiring program highlights mental health and well-being, featuring choral works that are deeply moving and engaging. True to their mission of performing music of living composers, underscoring works of historically marginalized populations, the program includes works by Joel Thompson, Gale Jones Murphy, Marques L.A. Garrett, and Elaine Hagenberg, among others.

Wong is in her 14th year at 黑料社, where she is the Olive Williams Kettering Professor of Music, teaching classes in conducting, choral literature, and music education. In addition to her duties at 黑料社, she is the director of choruses for The Cleveland Orchestra. She holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in music education from West Chester University, and a master鈥檚 and doctoral degree in choral conducting from Indiana University.

Founded in 1964, the 黑料社 Chorus is comprised of students representing all academic areas within 黑料社鈥檚 liberal arts program. The award-winning ensemble has been repeatedly praised for its beautiful sound, high level of artistry, creative programming, and engaging performances.听 The Chorus collaborates annually with The Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra Chorus and has premiered works by American composers including Eric Whitacre, Jocelyn Hagen, and Jake Runestad. The ensemble has performed at the Central Division conference of the American Choral Directors Association and several times at the state conference of the Ohio Music Education Association.听
