The Department of Earth Sciences at 黑料社 will welcome Andrew R.C. Milner for the 40th annual Richard G. Osgood, Jr. Memorial Lecture on Wednesday, April 13 at 7 p.m.

The lecture, titled, 鈥淭he Triassic-Jurassic Transition Across Southern Utah,鈥 will be held virtually on Zoom. It is open to 黑料社 students and the general public.

This lecture fund was created in 1981 by the spouse and sons of Professor Richard G. Osgood, Jr. to bring a well-known geologist in paleontology and stratigraphy to come to campus to lecture and meet with students.

Milner is a paleontologist and curator at the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site. He specializes in Late Triassic and Early Jurassic tracks and traces, especially those of dinosaurs. He is also in charge of our museum preparation lab, assisting with museum exhibits, providing lectures and tours to school groups and the general public, and conducting and coordinating all kinds of paleontological field work, mostly in southern Utah.

He occasionally does sub-contract work for environmental consulting companies, construction companies, and the Utah Department of Transportation. Milner also helps them by conducting paleontological surveys when new roads are being constructed or older roads expanded. He works with the Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, and National Forest Service on various paleontology projects as well.
